The Gathering is the annual networking event for the community of event organisers, artists, partners and supporters of Age & Opportunity’s Bealtaine Festival.
Bealtaine Festival takes place throughout the month of May each year, and celebrates the arts and creativity as we age.
In our first in-person Gathering since 2019, we’re bringing the Bealtaine community together to look at different issues of diversity as they relate to older age.
Featuring keynote speaker, bestselling author Patricia Scanlan, we are delighted to share the full schedule which includes presentations on Bealtaine 2022 events Flikkers: Come As You Were (Francis Fay and Monica Flynn) and Tell Me This Now (Louise White) as well as an artist panel on diverse programming chaired by writer and performer Chandrika Narayanan-Mohan.
We are also looking forward to welcoming Ed Watts, Head of Civic Engagement and Education at the Whitworth (Manchester) to speak about older men’s participation in the arts.
Joining us to open and close the event with readings of her poetry is Nithy Kasa, whose debut collection Palm Wine Tapper and The Boy at Jericho was published by Doire Press.
