Registration FAQ

How can I promote my event within my community?

There are lots of ways you can promote your event locally. These include posters, local radio, local press, social media and simply by spreading the word. For further information see our event organiser resource page.

Can anyone organise an event for Bealtaine?

Yes, any organisation, individual, business or community group can organise an event for Bealtaine. Bealtaine is Ireland’s largest cooperative  arts festival, and the hundreds of organisations who participate each year are the key reason that it is a success. If you are organising an event for the first time you can visit the organiser resource page and download our event ideas document. If you would like to discuss your idea with us, please give us a call or email us. We would love to hear about your plans and help to make your event a success.

What is the deadline for registering an event?

You can register your event for inclusion in the online listings until the end of May (provided it is in advance of your event!) However, to help you promote the event we advise that you register as early as possible.

There is a separate deadline for event registration for inclusion in the Bealtaine printed brochure which is distributed nationwide to tourist offices, county councils, libraries and various other national and cultural institutions. However, we cannot guarantee that all events registered by that date will be included, as space is limited. In the case of a large number of event registrations, we reserve the right to select events for inclusion that represent a geographic spread and wide range of arforms.

Do I need insurance for an event?

Public Liability insurance is needed for any ‘in person’ event you are inviting the public to. Event organisers should consult with the venue hosting the event about this to ensure all necessary cover is in place.

What should I do if the event I organised has to be cancelled?

If you have no option but to cancel your event please ensure you notify the Age & Opportunity Arts Team at arts@ageandopportunity. You should also make every effort to notify your local community through as many means as possible.

Is Bealtaine promoted nationally?

Yes, Age & Opportunity promotes the festival nationally and regionally through an integrated advertising, marketing and PR campaign. However, the majority of our budget is spent on the programming of the festival itself, to ensure that we can offer a broad range of events in as many areas as possible.
