Age & Opportunity works with a broad spectrum of groups to create the most inclusive Bealtaine Festival possible. These groups include independent curators, other arts organisations, and specialist groups such as Age & Opportunity’s Arts Advisory Group as well as targeted focus groups of people who are 50+.
In 2026, we wish to create an even more inclusive Festival and invite interested members of the public/Bealtaine audience to form a citizens curator panel for the Bealtaine Festival. This pilot panel will make suggestions and advise on programming, with particular reference to one event for the 2026 festival. This panel will meet in June/July and possibly again in September to bring their ideas together. The group will also have the opportunity to develop their skills in relation to programming. The Citizen Curator group will be working within a defined budget and under the guidance of the overall festival Curators and Director. We envisage a panel of approximately 5 people.
Please note that the Citizen Curator is a voluntary role. Where an in-person meeting is proposed, a travel and subsistence expenses will be covered.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be:
- Aged 50+
- A previous Bealtaine attendee/participant
- Able to demonstrate an interest in the arts
- Willing to spend some time on this initiative
