The Slieveardagh Recollection Collection is a project created by older members of the community who use the services of The Millennium Family Resource Centre, the staff of the centre and artist Katy Goodhue. For this project, participants celebrate their collective and individual pasts, highlighting that everyone has a story, a memory, an object, a though, a recollection to share.
Katy has photographed and recorded individuals and groups talking about both items they still have and their memories of past days.
An exhibition of items from the mid-20th century, and photographs from the project will be displayed in the entrance foyer of the centre from 23rd to the 31st of May, the exhibition can be viewed from outside the building so can be visited without the need to access the building- The Millennium Family Resource Centre, Glengoole, Thurles, Co Tipperary, E41 A065.
Katy Goodhue is a visual artist who lives and works in the Slieveardagh Hills. Along-side her sculpture she works with older members of the locality to gather and share stories of the heritage of local coal mines and life in the past, this project will continue this collection.
