Over two days in May, artist and folklorist Michael Fortune (from folklore.ie) will visit a selection of pre-booked community nursing units in County Mayo. Michael will talk about the traditions and customs surrounding the month of May and the coming of summer in Ireland.
Michael Fortune is a collector of folklore. He grew up on the east coast of Wexford and since the late 1990s he has been a pioneer in the area of folklore collecting and social anthropology, locally, nationally and internationally. Michael is no stranger to County Mayo and has worked on folklore collections here in the past and conducted the celebrated Irish Dresser Project in Mayo in 2016.
