Event Description:
This talk will discuss the fascinating life of Seamus Ennis, a distinguished musician and folklore collector who was widely known as the “King of the Pipers”. Following his death in 1982, one obituary declared that the Dubliner had left behind “a priceless heritage of Irish tradition to the nation”.
Bio: A history graduate of Trinity College Dublin and NUI Galway, Dr James Curry is the Dublin City Council Historian in Residence for the North West Area of the city. He will be speaking about the life of Seamus Ennis, somebody he wrote an essay about for the 2019 book History on your Doorstep: Volume 2.
