In MEMORIES AND MELODIES Jean Farrell reads some of her most popular articles. Her sister sings well-known songs linked to these. The show is a nostalgic (and in turns funny or poignant) trip down memory lane. It explores life in Ireland, during the 1950s and ’60s, remembering happy times when we were young and innocent, full of hopes and dreams.
Jean Farrell writes a weekly column in The Westmeath Independent newspaper. Her many readers identify with Jean’s humorous interesting view of life, as she looks back over the many changes which have taken place in Ireland, since she was a young child, in the 1950s.
Jean wrote and presented her one-woman play THE SIX MARYS which has been greatly enjoyed by audiences all over Ireland.
Come to Birr Theatre & Arts Centre to hear about mothers of ten and more. Recall the wonderful dance halls, filled with music and song, youth and vitality. Stories from the past are interwoven with lovely Irish ballads and songs we learnt in school long ago.
The show is very evocative and highly entertaining. Refreshments will be served after the show to keep the conversation going.
