Event Description
Milford Nursing Home employs a full-time art facilitator, she and the residents will create a sensory piece on a large canvas, as well as some individual landscape pieces made while being immersed in ‘Seamus Heaney’s Poem describing an Irish Landscape’.
Focusing on lines from Seamus Heaney’s poem ‘Postscript’, this topographical and loco-descript poem is the ideal landscape descriptor to inspire a sensory piece. The large mixed medium painting will be created with natural eco-materials to enhance the sensory aspect of it. Also, there will be over 22 paintings created by the older adults in Milford Care Centre also depicting memories and poems. Landscaped beautifully, this exhibition will also have an aspect to the sound of the sea and nature to add another level of sensory stimulation to the pieces. This is supported by the music therapist in Milford Care Centre. which will bring a richness of sound to the overall project. Residents will have the opportunity to listen to soundscapes while experiencing the exhibition. bringing soundscapes from around the island to the residents. This will also be fed into the Milford internal connection by having visual access to the exhibition throughout the nursing home and hospice via TV internal channel and VR Headset for bedbound clients.
