Event Description

ARTISTS UNDERTAKE SOLAR POWERED EXPEDITION ON THE SHANNON TO SPARK CLIMATE ACTION THROUGH THE ARTS

On May 1st 2022, School of Looking artists Anne Cleary and Denis Connolly will launch the Eco Showboat expedition from the Hunt Museum in Limerick, a four month voyage upriver to Enniskillen on the Mayfly, the first solar electric boat to make this journey.

The Mayfly will stop in Dromineer on 18th May and will hold a number of workshops and events over the course of the day while moored on the shores of Lough Derg.

At 2.30 p.m. we’ll have poetry at the Pangolin Pavilion with poets ELEANOR HOOKER and EMILY CULLEN. At 3.30 p.m. we weclome AILBHE GERRARD, a passionate organic farmer at her own Brookfield Farm with a heart for bees and tutor on IFOAM – Organics International Regenerative Agriculture course. We follow this with the Slow Looking workshop at 5.00pm discovering the biodiversity of the lakeshore and then at 6.00 p.m. join us for a screening of first scenes from River Movie capturing the discovering the beauty of the Shannon and the Erne waterways, exploring scientific and artistic ideas for how we can save this environment from everything that threatens it today.
