Guided by visual artist, Michael Gannon, you will explore the unique cyanotype photographic process and discover its endless possibilities!
The cyanotype process, a historical photographic technique dating back to 1842, utilises light-sensitive solutions to produce striking blue-hued images. During this introductory workshop, participants will learn to prepare their own photosensitive emulsion that reacts to ultraviolet light. Throughout this hands-on experience, attendees will gain insights not only into the practical aspects of cyanotype printing, but also its’ artistic possibilities. At the end of the workshop, every attendee will have a number of finished cyanotype prints to bring home.
In addition, to celebrate Biodiversity Week (16 – 25 May 2026), Sheila Murphy, Biodiversity Officer with Mayo County Council will give a short talk to participants on biodiversity.
