Celebrating Bealtaine – and promoting creativity as we age.
Following on from a dynamic programme of workshops in printmaking, the SICCDA Liberties Over-55 group are invited to join project artist Siobhán Cox at Black Church Print Studio, to gain an insight into where artists develop and produce prints, see the equipment and printing presses where work is brought to fruition and discuss the learning they experienced over the course of their collaborative project in the Liberties.
Artists Maureen Burke and Siobhan Cox and education curator Jean Mann, worked with the Liberties Over -55 group, as part of BCPS Action Research Project under Capacity Grant Funding. Working over a series of 5 cumulative sessions, artists explored printmaking processes with the SICCDA Over-55 Group. The project encompassed ideas of community and place, with a particular focus on the built environment that surrounds the group. Artists were encouraged to share contemporary art practice with participants and work with a collaborative focus, generating ideas with the group to form a collaborative artwork for the community building.
The South Inner City Community Development Association SICCDA Over-55 group, are a long-standing group in the Liberties, who meet weekly to create, experience and share experiences together.
