This art piece was created through the collaboration of TY Students from St Josephs Tulla, and our local adult friends. We meet every week for an hour and undertake many projects and have been doing so for twenty years. Over oceans of tea and biscuits, much chat took place about our lives and how they were so similar despite the age difference.
We created our pretty Box of Memories which we call ‘Cairde’ – it looked at family, farming, fashion, old sayings and more. Our memories are folded within the box and secured by pretty ribbons, which symbolises how our memories are always safe and we can cherish them.
We came to realise the importance of connection and inclusion – no matter what age you are.
We had such fun over the many weeks this project took place under the guidance of artist Shona Mac Gillivray and teacher Siobhán O’ Sullivan.
