Dr. Tara Byrne
As Manager of Arts & Culture, Tara has responsibility for all of Age & Opportunity’s arts activities and events, including being Festival Director for our flagship project, the Bealtaine festival. She has built a strong reputation over the past twenty years as an arts manager and curator, working as Director of the National Sculpture Factory in Cork from 2002- 2008. She has also worked with the Arts Council of Ireland from 1996 – 2002, the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the National College of Art and Design, and many other arts organisations. More recently since completing a doctorate in Cultural Policy at the Graduate School of Creative Arts and Media at Dublin Institute of Technology (2013), she has acted as an independent arts and cultural researcher, policy consultant, teacher and advocate, for both the arts, public service and university sectors including the Arts Council, the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Dublin City Council, Limerick City Council, Leitrim County Enterprise Board, the National Campaign for the Arts, and Limerick City Gallery of Art. In addition to her doctorate, Tara holds an Arts BA from Trinity College Dublin and a Higher Diploma in Arts Administration from UCD.
