The purpose of the ‘How To Print At Home’ series is to make printmaking techniques accessible to everyone without the need for specialised printmaking tools and equipment. The 'Printing with Household Objects' demo and instructions shares a way to create and print a plate using everyday objects that can be found around the house, cardboard, glue and waterbased paint. More or less anything that is relatively flat can be used to print with. Try your food cupboard; rice, spaghetti, seeds, porridge oats, tinfoil or in an office drawer; paper-clips, string, safety pins, hair clips, buttons, bubble-wrap. Walk around, see what you can find, try picking 'themed' things or things that talk about you and have fun with it! Aoife was artist in residence with Raheen Community Hospital in 2019 as part of the Age & Opportunity Artist in Residence in a Care Setting initiative where she developed a print project with residents. The initiative was funded by the Creative Ireland National Creativity Fund, the HSE and the Arts Council of Ireland.
