Vintage Youth present a beautiful new work-in-progress “Plant a heart in the Earth”. It explores their love and appreciation for the wonders of nature and shared concerns about the planet and the future for their children and grandchildren. Directed by Robert Connor & Loretta Yurick, Dance Theatre of Ireland Artistic Directors and founders of Well-Dance for Seniors, an evidence-based method of sharing dance with older people which has won a 2019 National Lottery Good Causes Award for Dublin and a National Age Friendly and Achievement Award 2018. Vintage Youth is a dance ensemble of 12-18 individuals aged 60+ who are committed to creating inspiring performances for all ages, challenging the limiting perceptions of older persons. They have created performances for the opening of the dlr Lexicon as well as the larger scale “Its About Time” 2017, “It’s time we Dance” (2018) and Wisdom Moves (2019), performing in Dun Laoghaire, at Dance Ireland, at the Annual Sonas APC National Dementia Conference and at many Seniors Expos. Vintage Youth’s work incorporates spoken word, music and dance and is supported by the DLRCC, The Arts Council and The Ireland Funds.
